BUCKSPORT – Vivian R. (Chatto) Brawn, 87, a wonderful, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend, passed away Wednesday, Aug. 24, 2011, after an extended period of declining health. For the past four years, she had been residing at Tall Pines Nursing Home, Belfast. She was born April 22, 1924, in Penobscot.

Her family later moved to Bucksport, there she graduated high school in 1942 and she married her childhood friend, Robert Brawn, June 20, 1945. They too made their home in Bucksport, raising their two daughters there. Vivian was a devout Christian and a longtime member of Belfast Nazarene Church where she held various positions through the years. As an avid Red Sox fan she rarely missed seeing their games on TV.

She was predeceased by her parents, Ernest and Kathleen (Grindle) Chatto; as well as her sisters, Muriel Bowden and Gladys Boyce. She is survived by her devoted and loving husband of 66 years, Robert; brother, Murray Chatto and his wife, Maxine, of Verona Island; two daughters and their husbands, Deborah and Russell Blake of Searsport, and Vicki and Dennis Lewin of East Orland and Wellington, Fla.; three grandchildren, Cassidy Tewey and her husband, Patrick, of Mahopac, N.Y., Dj Lewin of Miami, and Tracy Colby and her husband, Jedidiah, of Searsport; three great-grandchildren, Casey Tewey, Riley Colby and Elise Colby; several nieces and nephews. Special thanks go to all the wonderful people at Tall Pines Nursing Home for all their kindness to Vivian.

A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 27, at Belfast Nazarene Church, 95 Swan Lake Ave., Belfast, with the Rev. John F. Evans officiating. Interment will be private in the family plot in Old Town. In lieu of flowers, Vivian wished that donations be made to Belfast Nazarene Church, 95 Swan Lake Ave., Belfast, ME 04915 or Tall Pines Nursing Home, 34 Martin Lane, Belfast, ME 04915. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Mitchell-Tweedie Funeral Home, Bucksport.
