BREWER – Dorothy M. Ward, 82, wife of the late Kenneth Ward, died peacefully Aug. 26, 2011, at a local health care facility. She was born July 14, 1929, in Winterport, the daughter of Frederick and Almira (Porter) Lowe.
Dorothy was salutatorian of her 1947 class at Winterport High School. She was a beautician for 25 years and worked for Brewer School Department for 12 years, retiring in 1989. She loved harness racing and was devoted to and lived through her family.
Dorothy is survived by her three sons and their wives, Mark and Terry Ward of Bucksport, David and Clara Ward and Daniel and Susan Ward all of Brewer; two daughters and husbands, Mary and Michael Cox of Orrington and Melissa and Carl Winchester of Brewer; 10 grandchildren, Ben Ward, Chris Miner, Warren Weaver, Jon Ward, Mikey Ward, Sean Ward, Joe and Emily Cox, Paul Davison and Ricky Winchester; six great-grandchildren and several other family members.
