LINCOLN – Reuben T. Ryder Jr., 80, husband of Evelyn (Farrington) Ryder, passed away Aug. 25, 2011, at Penobscot Valley Hospital, Lincoln. He was born Feb. 20, 1931, in Lincoln, the son of Reuben Ryder Sr. and Lucy Ryder.

Reuben worked as a mechanic for Cole-Whitney Ford for 35 years until his retirement. After he retired, he spent his time at Silver Lake with his family. He also loved to go camping with his family and friends to places like Bar Harbor, Prince Edward Island and many other places. In the winter he loved to snowmobile. He was always smiling and had a story to tell.

He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 61 years, Evelyn; daughter, Sherry McCafferty and Kenneth; sons, Reuben D. Ryder, Collin J. Ryder and Cris Kinney; grandchildren, Nicole Shaw, Kimberly Smith, Ryan McCafferty, Allison Ryder and Joshua Ryder; and seven great-grandchildren. He will be sadly missed by his family and friends. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by two brothers, John and Thomas Ryder; and a sister, Gloria Stevens.

Friends may call 7-9 p.m. Monday at Clay Funeral Home, 7 Lee Road, Lincoln, where a memorial service will be held 1 p.m. Tuesday with the Rev. Keith Cushman officiating.
