DEXTER – Jane (Whittier) Hoppe, 83, peacefully passed away Aug. 30, 2011, in the comfort of her home. She was born July 10, 1928, in Old Town, a daughter of Raleigh and Jessie (Spaulding) Whittier Sr.
On April 30, 1950, Jane married the love of her life and best friend, Robert J. Hoppe. They celebrated 61 years of marriage together and raised two sons. Jane and Bob loved to collect antiques, garden, and gather with friends and family. Her greatest joy was watching her grandchildren grow into fine young adults.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by two sons, Robert W. Hoppe and wife, Kris, of St. Johnsbury, Vt., and Jeffrey of Sommerville, S.C.; and four grandchildren, Zachary, Charlotte, Emma and Jeffrey. She was predeceased by a brother, Raleigh Jr.; and a sister, Priscilla.
