BANGOR and ISLAND FALLS – Janet Byrne, 82, died Aug. 28, 2011, with her loving family by her side in Scarborough. She was born March 3, 1929, in Bangor, the fourth child of Josiah and Thirza (Curtis) Hunt.
Some of her greatest joys in life were yard sales, flea markets and her doll collections.
She was predeceased by her husband, Frank Byrne; and brothers, Theodore and Harmon Hunt. She is survived by one brother, Roger Hunt and wife, Lorraine, of Ocala, Fla.; three sons, Chris Drew and wife, Wallis, of Mount Chase, Gregg Drew and wife, Dawn, of North Berwick, and Randy Drew and wife, Diane, of York, Neb.; nine grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren. She was very appreciative of her nieces, Mary Walker and Sue Hunt, who visited her frequently. The family thanks the staff at Gosnell Memorial Hospice House, Scarborough, for the compassionate care given to Janet in her final days.
A memorial service will be held 1 p.m. Oct. 3 at Island Falls Chapel of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Arrangements are in the care of Johnson Funeral Home, 26 Market St., North Berwick. Online condolences may be expressed at
