VEAZIE – Phyllis I. (Walker) Wilson, 91, died Aug. 30, 2011, at a Bangor hospital. She was born April 27, 1920, in Island Falls, daughter of C. Phillip and Irene B. (St. John) Walker.

Phyllis was a graduate of Brewer High School, Class of 1938. She attended Gilman Business School at night and attended the University of Maine. She began her career employed by the state of Maine. Later, she went to work for the FBI, Washington, D.C., for five years. She returned to this area and became employed by Bangor City Hospital, now Bangor Nursing and Rehabilitation, where she worked for 37 years. She was a member of Veazie Senior Citizen, Hammond Street Senior Center and Eagles Club, Brewer. Phyllis enjoyed bowling and played on leagues at Bangor-Brewer Bowling Lanes. She was an avid Red Sox fan and never missed a game. She also loved line dancing at Peakes Hill Lodge.

Surviving are a son, Jeffrey L. Wilson of Veazie; a daughter, Beverly Wilson of Austin, Texas; three grandchildren, Philip Howard, Jennifer Jamison and Sheri Turner; five great-grandchildren, Autumn Turner, Aiden Howard, Kimberly Howard, Gavin Perkins and Savannah Perkins; and a nephew, Richard Grindle and family. She was predeceased by her husband, Philip “Bud” Wilson; and a sister, Joan Grindle.

A memorial gathering will be held 2-4 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 6, at the Family Reception Center of Brookings-Smith, 163 Center St., Bangor. Private interment will be at Oak Grove Cemetery, Bangor. Gifts in her memory may be sent to Bangor Humane Society, 693 Mount Hope Ave., Bangor.
