BANGOR – Douglas W. Picard, 57, died Sept. 4, 2011, at a local health care facility after an extended illness. He was born June 13, 1954, in Bangor, son of James and Betty (Arnold) Picard.

Douglas graduated from high school and served in the U.S. Navy as a dental technician for four years in Iceland. He was a jack-of-all-trades as well as an accomplished carpenter in both Florida and Maine. Doug loved camping, fishing, and getting together with family and friends.

He is survived by his parents of Bangor; his brother, Brian Picard and his wife, Julie, of Orrington; his sister, Cynthia Ingalls of Hermon; nieces and nephews, Ashley and Andrew Picard, Jill and Molly Ingalls; many aunts, uncles and cousins; and his longtime companion, Liz Spellman of Bangor. He was predeceased by his twin brothers, John and Joseph Picard.

A memorial reception will be held 5-7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 8, at the Family Reception Center of Brookings-Smith, 163 Center St., Bangor. Condolences to the family may be expressed at
