NEWBURGH – Jane E. Kimball, 80, passed away Sept. 5, 2011, at a Bangor skilled care facility after a brief period of ill health. Born April 23, 1931, in Newburgh, she was the only daughter of the late Orrin D. and Mary F. (Whitcomb) Kimball.
Educated in Newburgh public schools, Jane was a graduate of Hampden Academy and the University of Maine, where she held Bachelor of Science, Bachelor of Arts and Master of Science degrees. After 43 years of teaching, Miss Kimball retired to her home in Newburgh. She will be remembered for her devotion to her students and her many years of instruction at Hampden Academy, where she gained the respect and admiration of faculty and students alike.
Her survivors include one brother, Amos W. Kimball; and numerous cousins. A word of appreciation is extended to those many individuals who so kindly assisted Jane during her recent illness.
In accordance with her request, visiting hours and funeral services will be omitted. Interment will be in the family lot at Knowlton Cemetery, Newburgh. Gestures of remembrance may be given to Hospital Chaplaincy Services, attention: Martha Bankston, 2912 Western Ave., Newburgh, ME 04444 or to the organizations of one’s choice.
