MAPLETON – Pete’s spirit was set free Sept. 15, 2011, at age 53, after a long and courageous battle with cancer. He was born April 26, 1958, in Presque Isle, son of Robert and Dolores (Labbe) Levasseur.
He graduated from Presque Isle High School and went right to work for W.C. Doyen Farm, Mapleton, where you could often see him operating one of his favorite John Deere tractors. Pete loved spending time with his family, be it at the cabin, four-wheeling, fishing or just enjoying the outdoors together. Pete had an amazing ability to make people laugh, no matter what the circumstances were. He also loved target shooting with his bow and watching the Red Sox.
In addition to his mother, Dolores of Presque Isle, Pete is survived by his wife, Chee-Chee (York) Levasseur of Mapleton; daughter, Jessica Levasseur Dahms and her husband, Russell, of Westbrook; stepson, Jeremiah Sawyer; stepdaughter, Lacey Sawyer, both of Presque Isle; brothers, Donald Levasseur and his wife, Sharon, of Sebastian, Fla., and Dennis Levasseur and his wife, Ruth, of Colorado Springs, Colo.; sister, Frances Madore and her husband, Vaughn, of Presque Isle; grandchildren, Chase and Julia Levasseur; stepgrandchildren, Tanner Smith and Parker Sawyer; several nieces and nephews.
Private graveside services will be held Monday, Sept. 19, at Fairmount Cemetery, Presque Isle. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be sent, in support of the family to P.O. Box 281, Mapleton, ME 04757. Arrangements are in the care of Duncan-Graves Funeral Home, Presque Isle. Online condolences may be made at
