FORT FAIRFIELD – Rosaline M. “Rose” Davenport, 70, wife of Talford P. Davenport, passed away Friday morning, Sept. 16, 2011, at a Presque Isle health care facility, after a courageous 15-year battle with cancer. She was born Dec. 10, 1940, in St. Francis, daughter of William and Fabienne Thibodeau.

She was educated in St. Francis schools, was married to Talford P. Davenport, April 23, 1960, and was a resident of Fort Fairfield for almost 60 years. Rose had been employed by Fort Fairfield School Department in the school lunch program for 30 years, was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Paul Lockhart Post No. 6187 Ladies Auxiliary and was a communicant of Parish of the Precious Blood, St. Denis Catholic Church, Fort Fairfield.

In addition to her parents, Rose was predeceased by two brothers, Valric and Addis Thibodeau; and two sisters, Lorraine Watkins and Maureen Brown. She is survived by her husband of 51 years, Talford P. Davenport of Fort Fairfield; two sons, Jeffrey Davenport and his wife, Sherrie, of Westminster, Mass., and Mark Davenport of Bangor; two daughters, Robin Davenport and Lisa Davenport, both of Fort Fairfield; six brothers and sisters-in-law, Reginald Thibodeau of St. Francis, Donald and Freda Thibodeau of Washburn, Eldrick and Nina Thibodeau of Brunswick, Albert and Shirley Thibodeau of Myrtle Beach, S.C., Carl and Joyce Thibodeau of Sommerworth, N.H., and Lyman and Karen Thibodeau of South Berwick; four sisters and brothers-in-law, Mae Oakes and Rena Greenier, both of Fort Fairfield, Theresa Jandreau of Patterson, N.Y., and Joanne and Richard Beaulieu of Fort Fairfield; two special granddaughters, who meant the world to Rose, Abigail and Whitney Davenport, both of Westminster, Mass.; several nieces and nephews.

Friends may call 7-9 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 18, at Giberson-Dorsey Funeral Home, 144 Main St., Fort Fairfield, where a vigil service will be conducted 7:30 p.m. by the Rev. Jean-Paul Labrie. A Mass of Christian burial will celebrated 11 a.m. Monday, Sept. 19, at Parish of the Precious Blood, St. Denis Catholic Church, 147 Main St., Fort Fairfield, with the Rev. Jean-Paul Labrie, celebrant. Private burial will be held at Union Cemetery, Fort Fairfield, at a later date. A time of continued fellowship with refreshments will be held at Veterans of Foreign Wars Paul Lockhart Post No. 6187, Presque Isle Street, Fort Fairfield, immediately after the funeral Mass. Due to Rose’s battle with cancer and her love for the Boston Red Sox, the family request donations be made in memory of Rosaline M. Davenport to the Dana Farber Cancer Institute, 10 Brookline Place West, 6th Floor, Brookline, MA 02445 or online at www.danafarber.org. Envelopes will also be available at the funeral home and the church.
