BOOTHBAY HARBOR – Thomas L. Carbone, 75, the eldest son of the late Louis A. and Josephine R. Carbone, died peacefully Wednesday, Sept. 14, 2011, surrounded by his family and friends at his home.

Being a graduate of The New York Institute of Photography, the majority of his career was spent running his photography business, Tom’s Photo, Boothbay Harbor, and working for Maine Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife in the Augusta office. Tom was a man of many talents and attained his master burner and solid fuel license while working for Shibley’s Oil, Skowhegan. As his friends will tell you, if it was mechanical, electrical or carpentry, Tom could do it and he had the tools to prove it. While working for the Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife, he attended and coordinated many exhibits promoting Maine’s fishing and wildlife industry. His favorite show was the Big E, Eastern States Exposition, West Springfield, Mass., every September. Having done this show for more than 30 years, he was selected to be a trustee of the Maine Building, a post that he held until his death. The town of Boothbay Harbor and Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church always held a special place in Tom’s heart, being on many boards and a selectman for many years. He was also a member of Madison-Skowhegan Elks Lodge No. 2531, as well as having served in the Maine State National Guard. After retiring from Inland Fisheries and Wildlife, Tom and his wife Debbie started Deb’s Lawn Care, which he ran until his death.

Tom was predeceased by his first wife, Joyce S. Carbone. He is survived by his wife, Deborah Carbone; three children, Michelle Dumont and her husband, Anthony, and their son, Ryan, of Augusta, and his sons, Christopher Carbone of Portland and David Carbone and his fiancee, Liza, and their child, Teagan, of Skowhegan; his younger brother, Henry Carbone and his wife, Nancy, of Fort Kent, and their sons, Hank and John, and their families; as well as Kevin and Kimberlee Connery and their children, Christina and Kaitlyn; Celeste Bishop of Feeding Hills, Mass., and Fran Wilson of Boothbay Harbor.

A funeral Mass will be held 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 24, at Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church, Atlantic Avenue, Boothbay Harbor, with a reception afterward in the church hall. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Tom Carbone’s grandchildren’s college fund, care of Deborah Carbone, P.O. Box 495, Boothbay Harbor, ME 04538.
