FORT KENT and EAGLE LAKE – Delvina (Bernier) Bouchard, 84, formerly of Crosswinds, previously from Old Main Street, Eagle Lake, died Sept. 24, 2011, at St. Joseph’s Nursing Home, Frenchville. Mrs. Bouchard was born June 16, 1927, in Eagle Lake.
She married Patrick Bouchard in 1948. They moved their family to Southington, Conn., and remained for almost 40 years. During that time she relished raising their children, being a foster parent to infants for social services, and a nurse’s aide at a nursing home. She enjoyed helping people, especially the elderly and small children. She and her husband traveled back and forth from Maine to Florida for many years before settling in Eagle Lake.
In addition to her husband of many years, Mrs. Bouchard is survived by her four children, Barbara Marcoux and her husband, Kenneth, of Conway,
S.C., Gary Bouchard and his wife, Mary, of Duxbury, Mass., Gail Weindruch of Middletown, Conn., and Cherrie Porter and her husband, David, of Southington, Conn.; and six grandchildren, Renee and Alyssa Marcoux, Kelly and Peter Bouchard, Lauren Weindruch and Nicholas Porter. She also leaves her brothers and sisters, Exilia Cyr of Cape Coral, Fla., Melvina Jalbert of Bristol, Conn., Gloria Cassidy of Avril, Mass., Wallace Bernier of Ocala, Fla., and Zilda Madore of Eagle Lake; in addition to many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her brothers, Aurele, Saul and Rosaire Bernier; and her sisters, Ozile Dube, Maryange Saucier and Laudia Cyr.
Friends may call 6-8 p.m. Tuesday and 9-10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Daigle Funeral Home, Fort Kent. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 11 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 28, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Eagle Lake. Committal services will be after in the parish cemetery.
