VEAZIE and HAMPDEN – Delbert L. Byram, 93, died Oct. 1, 2011, at his home. He was born April 13, 1918, in St. Leonard, New Brunswick, son of Alfred and Annie (Diamond) Byram.
He moved with his family to the U.S. in 1949. He then worked for Cobb Buick, Caribou, for 10 years and for Twin City Buick, Brewer, until his retirement in 1975. His favorite pastime after retirement was to build new homes and drive the city bus.
He is survived by four children, Della Duffy and her companion, Richard Nason, of Levant, Ray Byram and wife, Lucy, of Hampden, Ken Byram and wife, Irene, of Brewster, Mass., and Janet Chapman and husband, Rob, of Glenburn; seven grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, three sisters, two sisters-in-law, several nieces, nephews; and his loving and caring companion, Ruth Randall. Delbert was predeceased by his wife of 55 years, Ella; a son, Paul, in 1995; and a son-in-law, Frank Duffy.
A funeral service will be held 1 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 5, at Hampden-Gilpatrick Funeral Home, 45 Western Ave., Hampden, where family and friends may visit 11 a.m. until the time of service Wednesday.
