SOUTHWEST HARBOR and TREMONT – Georgie Belle Seavey, 102, died Oct. 9, 2011, at an Mount Desert Island health care facility. She was born Sept. 25, 1909, in Seal Cove, daughter of George H. and Mildred G. (Butler) Freeman.
She attended Center School, Seal Cove. Georgie was a homemaker for her three children and husband. She had many jobs during her lifetime, including working at Jackson Laboratory, Bar Harbor, for 17 years. She was a member of St. Andrews by the Lake, Seal Cove, and St. John’s Episcopal Church, Southwest Harbor. Georgie was a member of West Tremont Ladies Aid and volunteered at Sonogee Rehabilitation and Living Center.
Georgie is survived by three sons, Douglas Freeman and wife, Jean, of Mount Desert, Merrill L. Seavey Jr. and wife, Elaine, of Seal Cove, and George H. Seavey and wife, Margaret, of West Tremont; a sister-in-law, Jean Freeman and friend, Steve Moore, of Auburn; 10 grandchildren, many great-grandchildren, a great-great-granddaughter, many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Merrill L. Seavey Sr.; son, Roger Seavey and his wife, Pat; brother, William Freeman; and daughter-in-law, Marguerite Seavey.
Friends are invited to call 4-6 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 11, at Jordan-Fernald, 1139 Main St., Mount Desert, where funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 12.
