VEAZIE – Lillian M. Rivers, 86, died peacefully Oct. 13, 2011, at her daughter’s home in Winterport. She was born July 28, 1925, in Norridgewock, the daughter of Charles and Hazel (Whitney) Moore.

Lillian graduated from Maine Central Institute and attended Clark University, Worcester, Mass. She was employed in the trust department of Merrill Bank for many years, retiring in 1988. After retiring Lillian was an active volunteer with Hospice of Eastern Maine for 15 years, also with Cole Land Transportation Museum. She received several awards for her community volunteerism. Lillian was a member of St. Patrick’s Episcopal Church, Brewer; Bethlehem Chapter, No. 36, Order of the Eastern Star; and Hammond Street Senior Center.

She was predeceased by her husband, Raymond E. Rivers; and a brother, Thornton W. Moore. Surviving are a son and daughter-in-law, Wayne and Cathy Rivers of Marlborough, Mass.; a daughter and son-in-law, Patricia and Jason Snyder of Winterport; grandchildren, Benjamin Rivers and his wife, Carla, of Decatur, Ga., Nicholas Rivers and his wife, Alicia, of Manassas, Va., Abby Bailey and her husband, Grant, of Bangor, Lindsey Davis and her husband, Benjamin, of Alexandria, Va., Hannah Snyder of Winterport and Steven Cartwright of Philadelphia; and four great-grandchildren, Evan and Katy Rivers, Colin Rivers and Lydia Bailey.

Relatives and friends are invited to call 3-5 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 23, at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center St., Bangor. Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Monday, Oct. 24, at St. Patrick’s Episcopal Church, Brewer, with the Rev. Ann Kidder, priest-in-charge at St. Patrick’s Episcopal Church, officiating. The family invites folks for conversation and refreshments in the church hall after the service. Private interment will be at Village Cemetery, Pittsfield.
