VAN BUREN – Doris O. Laplante, 88, died Oct. 15, 2011, at a Van Buren health care facility. She was born Dec. 13, 1922, in Cyr Plantation, daughter of Henry and Denise (Sirois) Ouellette.
She was a member of Evangeline Circle, Daughters of Isabella, St. Bruno Choir Society, Living Heritage Society, American Legion Post 49 and American Legion Auxiliary Unit 49, Van Buren. Doris was employed as a registered nurse, first during World War II in the Women’s Army Corps and for 43 years at Van Buren Community Hospital and Borderview Nursing Home.
Doris is survived by her husband of 62 years, Arsene Laplante of Van Buren; two sons, Louis Laplante and his wife, Linda, and James Laplante, all of Van Buren; two daughters, Jeanne Laplante of Westbrook, and Bernadette Thivierge and husband, Gary, of Van Buren; 11 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Relatives and friends may call 6-8 p.m. Wednesday and 9-10:30 a.m. Thursday at Ouellette-Thibault Funeral Home, 118 High St., Van Buren. A funeral Mass will be celebrated 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Bruno-St. Remi Catholic Church. Interment will be at the parish cemetery.
