STUART, Fla., and DOVER-FOXCROFT – Ray D. Currie, 93, husband of the late Vivian (Coy) Currie, died Oct. 19, 2011, in Stuart, Fla. He was born Nov. 5, 1917, in Drew, son of Vaughn and Lula (Bishop) Currie.

Ray grew up in Howland and Dover-Foxcroft before moving to Waterville in 1961 where he resided until 1995 when he moved to Hobe Sound, Fla. A World War II Army veteran, Ray enjoyed working with his hands and was very accomplished at many tasks such as: carpentry, electrical, painting and plumbing, and he also enjoyed cooking. Ray retired from Central Maine Power Co. after being employed for 30 years. He was a member of Mosaic Masonic Lodge No. 52 AF & AM.

He will be sadly missed by his daughter, Linda Currie of Stuart, Fla.; two sons, Charles Currie and his wife, Sima, of Los Angeles and Richard Currie of Carlsbad, Calif.; three grandchildren, Jennifer, Yasamine and Jonathan Currie, all of Los Angeles; brother, Robert Currie of Dover-Foxcroft; one niece and three nephews. In addition to his parents; and wife, Vivian, Ray was predeceased by brother, Richard Currie; and sister, Helen Horton.

Friends are invited to call noon until time of funeral service 2 p.m. Friday, Oct. 28, at Lary Funeral Home, Dover-Foxcroft, with the Rev. Dr. Dodie Sheffield officiating.
