TOWNSHIP 6, Maine — The Maine Warden Service rescued an injured hiker after she slipped on rocks and fell down the Brook Trail on Tumbledown Mountain Saturday.

Karen Chase, 48, of Marblehead, Mass., badly sprained her ankle but did not require transport to a medical facility after slipping and falling about three-quarters of the way from the summit around 4 p.m. Wardens used a litter to get her off the mountain and brought her to a Northstar ambulance on an ATV.

Warden Sgt. Tim Place and wardens Kris MacCabe, Jonathan Parker, Patrick Egan and Kris Barboza were assisted by Wilton Fire and Rescue, Phillips Fire and Rescue, Franklin County Serach and Rescue and the Department of Conservation and Maine Forest Service personnel.
