VAN BUREN – Edwin W. Akerley, 82, died Oct. 22, 2011, at a Caribou hospital. He was born Jan. 10, 1929, in St. Leonard, New Brunswick, son of Leonard and Delima (Michaud) Akerley.
He was employed as an auto mechanic for many years in Hartford, Conn.
Edwin is survived by one sister, Cecile Tardif and husband, Armand, of St. Leonard, New Brunswick; special sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Verna and Reginald Chalou of Van Buren. He was predeceased by his wife, Joan (Levesque) Akerley, in 1998.
Relatives and friends may call 9-10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Ouellette-Thibault Funeral Home, 118 High St., Van Buren. A funeral Mass will be celebrated 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Bruno-St. Remi Catholic Church. Interment will be at the parish cemetery. To leave on-line condolences, please visit
