DOVER-FOXCROFT – Nancy A. Kerwin, 71, passed away Oct. 31, 2011, with a great will to survive after a courageous battle of cancer, with her family by her side. Nancy was born Feb. 15, 1940, in Watertown, N.Y., daughter of the late Wilbur and Emma (Bush) Koster.
Nancy dedicated her life serving many, always prioritizing others’ needs above her own, for her family, as well as countless others. Her career choice as a social worker reflected her giving nature as she always found the best in others. Nancy endured a long battle with cancer never resolving to give in for more than four years. She longed to continue to live life, especially the life of retirement, and spend more time with her family and grandchildren. Her final days were spent at home surrounded by her family and loved ones, who deeply loved her. She is now at peace with God. She will be sorely missed by all and will remain in our hearts forever.
She is survived by four daughters, Patricia Davis and husband, Tony Davis, of Guilford, Karen Kerwin Chapman and husband, James Chapman, of Dover-Foxcroft, Kathleen Kerwin of Bangor and Mary Kerwin of Portland; a son, Kevin Kerwin and wife, Penny, of Portland; grandchildren, Christine and Courtney Davis, Ashley Harnois and Matthew Chapman, Christopher Philbrook, Connor and Samuel Kerwin and Brady Leland; and her siblings, Robert Koster and wife, Sheila, and their children, Jeffrey and Jonathon, David Koster and wife, Joan, and their children, Cathy and Phillip, Suzanne Kirshner and her children, Chrishelle and Brandy, and Frank Koster and wife, Hope, and their two children, all of Watertown, N.Y. She was predeceased by her husband, Edward Joseph Kerwin; grandchildren, James Michael Davis and Mark William Philbrook Jr.; and her parents, Wilbur and Emma Koster of Watertown, N.Y.
Visiting hours will be held 6-8 p.m. Friday, Nov. 4, at Lary Funeral Home, Dover-Foxcroft. A Mass of Christian burial will be conducted noon Saturday, Nov. 5, at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, Dover-Foxcroft. Burial will be at Dover Cemetery.
