HAMPDEN – Gail Marie Barrell, 59, passed away unexpectedly Nov. 1, 2011, surrounded by her loving family and friends at a Bangor hospital. Gail was born May 21, 1952, in Milford, Conn., daughter of the late Edgar T. and Jean A. (Wells) Barrell.

Gail grew up and was educated in Connecticut. She then proudly served her country in the U.S. Navy. Gail was a certified occupational therapy assistant employed by Alpha One, where she was dedicated to her career, co-workers and particularly the consumers of their services. Gail will be remembered as a loving partner, sister, aunt and friend.

Gail is survived by her partner, Judy M. Edgerly of Hampden; brother, Tom Barrell and wife, Lori, of Milford, Conn.; two sisters, Lorna Parrish of Milford, Conn., and Sheila Eldridge and husband, Jack, of Putnam, Conn.; four nephews, Tommy, Joey, Bobby and Andy; as well as many close friends, too numerous to mention. Gail’s family thanks Eastern Maine Medical Center’s critical care unit for their wonderful care and exceptional compassion during her illness.

A memorial service celebrating Gail’s life will be held 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 19, at Hampden-Gilpatrick Funeral Home, 45 Western Ave., Hampden, with the Rev. Margaret A. Beckman, of First Universalist Church of Pittsfield, officiating.
