INDIAN TOWNSHIP – Margaret Cecelia Nicholas, 45, passed away Thursday, Nov. 3, 2011, with her family by her side after a courageous battle with cancer. Maggie was born Aug. 19, 1966, in New London, Conn., daughter of Carl and Faye (Russell) Nicholas.
After graduating from Lee Academy, class of 1984, she taught school for Indian Township for many years, until she became employed with Indian Township Tribal Government. Maggie enjoyed bowling, playing bingo, beading, arts and crafts, and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her mother, Faye Nicholas. Surviving are her three children, Ashley Nicholas, Sara Nicholas and April Lola; father, Carl Nicholas Sr.; three sisters, Dolores Acheson and her husband, Gordon, Lisa Sockabasin and her husband, Aubrey, and Carla Gillespie and her husband, Bill; four brothers, Carl Nicholas Jr. and his companion, Brenda Pond, Alex Nicholas and his wife, Regina, Leslie Nicholas and his wife, Maria, and William “Billy” Nicholas and his wife, Lucy; five grandchildren, Justin Harnois II, Lyndon Harnois, Sierra Lank, Tre Nicholas and Cecelia Peeples, all of Indian Township; many nieces and nephews; special friends, Terri Socobasin, Marie Harnois, Beth Ripley and her sons, and Donna York; and numerous other friends.
Visiting hours will begin 7 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 5, until 9 a.m. Monday, Nov 7, at her home, 48 Bear Ridge Road, Indian Township. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 10 a.m. Monday at St. James the Greater R.C. Church, Baileyville, by Father James Plourde, celebrant. Burial will be held at a later date.
