DEER ISLE – Sammy Scott Hardy, 43, died Nov. 6, 2011, at his residence. He was born Oct. 4, 1968, in Ellsworth, son of Elwood E. “Sam” and Judith May (Barbour) Hardy.

Sammy was a member of United Bikers of Maine. He worked for several years as a lobsterman, then he worked as a self-employed long haul truck driver and then returned to fishing after having health issues. He enjoyed going snowmobiling with the Pelletier’s of Millinocket.

He is survived by one daughter, Stormi Gayle Hardy of Deer Isle; mother, Judith May Hardy of Deer Isle; one aunt, Joanne Haskell and her husband, William, of Deer Isle; uncle, Douglas A. Hardy Sr. of Deer Isle; and several cousins. In addition to his father, he was predeceased by one cousin, Danny D. Hardy.

Friends may call 6-8 p.m. Friday, Nov. 11, at Bragdon-Kelley Funeral Home, 9 Thurlow’s Hill Road, Stonington. A memorial service will be celebrated 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 12, at Deer Isle Congregational Church, Deer Isle, with Elder Michael Shepard officiating. Interment will be at Forrest Hill Cemetery, Deer Isle. The family invites relatives and friends to a reception after the services to the reception hall at Deer Isle Congregational Church.
