BEAUFORT, S.C. – Robert “Rob” Cross, 61, formerly of Hampden, beloved son, brother, father and grandfather, went home to be with his Lord, Jesus Christ Saturday, Oct. 29, 2011. Surrounded by family, friends and loved ones, he passed peacefully after a brief and valiant battle with lung cancer.
He worked most of his life as a carpenter.
Surviving are his parents, Dr. Harold and Mrs. Alice Cross of Beaufort, S.C.; a son, Jamie of Hilton Head, S.C.; brothers, Larry of Katonah, N.Y., and Dave of Laconia, N.H.; sister, Susan of Bluffton, S.C.; granddaughter, Sage of Maine; nieces and nephews.
A memorial service was held Nov. 1 at Community Bible Church, Beaufort, S.C. Interment will be in the family plot in Hampden, where he will join his brother, Jeffrey, who passed away in 1970. A brief service will be held in spring 2012, which will be coordinated by The Church of the Open Door, Hampden.
