VAN BUREN – Arsene J. Laplante died on the morning of his 88th birthday, Tuesday, Nov. 15, 2011 at a Van Buren health care facility. He was born Nov. 15, 1923, in Van Buren, the son of Pierre and Alvine (Laplante) Laplante.
He was a member of Knights of Columbus Council 1635 of Van Buren, and a former member of St. Vincent de Paul Society, Living Heritage Society and Cooperative Extension Service. Arsene was self-employed as a potato and grain farmer all of his life.
He is survived by two sons, Louis Laplante and his wife, Linda, and James Laplante, all of Van Buren; two daughters, Jeanne Laplante of Westbrook and Bernadette Thivierge and husband, Gary, of Van Buren; two brothers, the Rev. Philip Laplante of Weymouth, Mass., and Clement Laplante of Derry, N.H.; two sisters, Rita Prescott of Saco and Lucienne Laplante of Old Orchard Beach; 11 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife, Doris (Ouellette) Laplante, Oct. 15, 2011.
Relatives and friends may call 6-8 p.m. Friday and 9-10:30 a.m. Saturday at Ouellette-Thibault Funeral Home, 118 High St., Van Buren.
