NEWPORT – Delmar Linwood Doody, 79, died Nov. 18, 2011, at a Bangor hospital. He was born Oct. 1, 1932, in Caribou, son of Lee and Myrtle (Rideout) Doody.
He served in the U.S. Army during the 1950s. Delmar worked in banking for many years, retiring as bank manager in 1992. He was a communicant of St. Agnes Catholic Church, Pittsfield. Delmar was very active in community affairs and his affiliations were numerous.
He is survived by his wife, Maria (Gillespie) Doody; six children, Peter, Darlene, Kevin, Carol, Ricky and Sue; nine grandchildren, five great-grandchildren; a brother, Don; and two sisters, Mabel and Evelyn. He was predeceased by his parents; and three brothers, Lee, Vinyl and Mac. The family would like to thank the doctors and nurses at St. Joseph Hospital for his wonderful care.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 22, at Crosby & Neal, 117 Main St., Newport, with the Rev. Paul Murray officiating. Burial will be at Riverside Cemetery, Newport.
