MILLINOCKET – Vesta E. Levesque, 92, died Tuesday, Nov. 22, 2011, at a Millinocket health care facility. She was born June 30, 1919, in Harvey Station, New Brunswick, the daughter of John and Ella (Manzer) Moffitt.

Vesta enjoyed knitting, and made many afghans which she donated to the veteran’s home in Bangor, and also knitted beanies for Eastern Maine Medical Center for preemies to wear. Vesta was a member of American Legion Women’s Auxiliary for 45 years, and for many years public or church suppers in the area were not complete without Vesta’s fresh baked rolls.

She is survived by her husband of 24 years, Nelson Levesque of Millinocket, who will remember the many happy times they shared traveling in their car and spending time together. She is also survived by three sons, Martin Hikel and his wife, Sarah, of Bangor, Jimmy Hikel and his wife, Lori, of St. Steven, New Brunswick, and Pete Hikel and his wife, Kimberly, of Kenduskeag; three stepchildren, Marlene Stanley and her husband, Mike, of Medway, Rella Armstrong and her husband, Hale, of Levant, and Dale Levesque and his wife, Denise, of Bangor; four siblings, Earle Moffitt and Alvin “Banty” Moffitt of Harvey Station, New Brunswick, Edith Lowery of Frederickton, New Brunswick, and Harriett Garrett of St. Steven, New Brunswick; 10 grandchildren, Randa, Leslie, Karen, Derek, Courtney, Jordan, Justin, Kevin, Kacy and Matthew; 12 great-grandchildren, many nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to her parents, Vesta was predeceased by three brothers, James Moffitt, Robert Moffitt and Ray Moffitt; and a sister, Isabelle Burrell.

Friends are invited to visit with the family 6-8 p.m. Friday, Nov. 25, at Lamson Funeral Home, 11 Tamarack St., Millinocket, where a rosary service will begin 7 p.m. Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 26, at Christ the Divine Mercy Parish at St. Martin of Tours, 19 Colby St., Millinocket, with Deacon Danny Watson, presiding.
