EAST ORLAND – Josie M. DuBois, 85, died unexpectedly Thursday, Nov. 24, 2011, at her home. She was born April 4, 1926, in Sidney, the first born of Gordon and Marion (Lanpher) Real.
Josie graduated from Williams High School, Oakland, in 1944. She worked for more than 20 years at Western Auto, Bucksport. Josie loved spending time with her family and playing bridge.
She is survived by her five daughters, Paula Merriam and husband, Marshall, of Owls Head, Kathy Heath and husband, Gerald, of East Orland Jackie DuBois and husband, Steve Larson, of Florence, Ky., Connie Fish and husband, Richard, of East Orland, and Pam Robbins and husband, Peter, of Stockton Springs; five grandchildren, Peter Merriam, Daniel Merriam, Mike Heath, Amy Heath and Gary Robbins; five great-grandchildren; four brothers and sisters, Winfield Real, Karine Real, Vergie Blair and Doris Redmond. In addition to her parents, Josie was predeceased by her husband of 60 years, Paul E. DuBois, in 2009; two brothers, Gordon Real Jr. and Wesley Real; one sister, Roxie Buzzel; and one great-granddaughter, Taylor Katherine.
At Josie’s request, there will be no services. Family and friends will gather to celebrate Josie’s life 11 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 27, at her home on Toddy Pond, 168 Violette Way, East Orland. Services are under the direction of Mitchell-Tweedie Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 28 Elm St., Bucksport.
