ARGYLE and PATTEN – Robert G. “Bob” Cunningham, 88, died Nov. 21, 2011, in Bangor. He was born Aug. 28, 1923, in Patten, son of Walter B. and Irene (Craig) Cunningham.

Bob was a proud alumnus of Patten Academy. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy serving during World War II and later worked in the grocery business until his retirement.

He is survived by his wife, Georgia “Dolly” (Bennett-Sharp) Cunningham; daughter, Patricia Bishop and her husband, Gary, of Brewer; stepson, Barry A. Bennett and his wife, Ruby, of Old Town; grandson, James D. MacArthur III of Bangor; sisters, Geraldine Kinney of Warren and Betty Stephenson of Yreka, Calif.; many nephews, nieces and their families. He was predeceased by his first wife, Marion (Stevens) Cunningham; son, Michael Ray Cunningham; parents; brother, Leslie; and sisters, infant Virginia Cunningham, Phyllis Cunningham and Ella Qualey. The family thanks the staff of the Waterman unit of Ross Manor for their wonderful care and support during Bob’s stay there.

Memorial funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 3, at Bowers Funeral Home, 54 Sherman St., Island Falls. Interment will be in the spring at Patten Cemetery.
