ORRINGTON – Carolyn Ann (Abbott) Culumovic, 74, died Nov. 23, 2011, surrounded by her loving family at her home. She was born Jan. 26, 1937, in Bangor, the daughter of John Patrick and Winifred Dorothy (Lousey) Abbott.

Carolyn was a graduate of John Bapst High School, class of 1956, and a 1959 graduate of Mercy Hospital School of Nursing, Portland, where she received her registered nurse degree. She was employed for many years at Eastern Maine Medical Center. Her family was most important in her life and she enjoyed cooking and crocheting. Carolyn was also an avid University of Maine hockey and football fan.

Surviving are one son, Patrick J. Culumovic, M.D., and his wife, Karen L. Culumovic; two grandchildren, Jack and Katie Culumovic, all of Greenville, S.C.; two sisters, Mary Ellen Schulze of Orrington and Joan Mayo and her husband, John, of Enfield, Conn.; a sister-in-law, Helen Abbott of Orrington; two special nieces, Mary-Jo King of Old Town and Tara L. Ford of Orrington; a special nephew, Joseph M. Abbott of Orrington; several other nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Carolyn was predeceased by her husband, Peter J. Culumovic, in 1997; three brothers, John, James and Michael Abbott; and two sisters, Frances Landers and Margaret “Pat” King.

Relatives and friends are welcome to call 6-8 p.m. Friday, Dec. 2, at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center St., Bangor. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 3, at St. Paul the Apostle Parish, St. John’s Catholic Church,
