BANGOR and EASTON – Harrison A. “Pat” Brown, 87, died Thanksgiving Day, Nov. 24, 2011, in Bangor. He was born May 17, 1924, in Easton, son of Harrison and Margaret (Hargrove) Brown.
Surviving him are his wife, Marguerite (Cahill) of Bangor; sons, Jim of Presque Isle and Rick of Easton; daughters, Shelley Kennett of Old Orchard, Nancy Albert of Portland and Patricia Niedorowski of Hampden; two grandchildren, Ashlee Albert of Presque Isle and Kelsey Albert of Washburn; a great-granddaughter, Meredith Lynne of Presque Isle; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his mother, father; and five sisters, Etta McKay, Erma Schol, Marion Dudley, Dolly Church and Nedra Giberson.
A veteran of World War II, he was a purchasing agent for Maine Sugar Inc. for several years, a potato farmer, and in 1984 he retired from The Aroostook County Action Program, Presque Isle. Even though he moved to Bangor, his heart remained in “the County.” Pat often thought and spoke of his friends in Easton, where he lived for 76 years. He had many wonderful memories of Birch Haven Campground, Eagle Lake, where the family camped for 13 years and since 1985 at Red Barn Campground, Holden, in the summer. He loved sports of all types and followed several teams avidly on TV. He and his wife resided in Bangor since 1995. Pat was a quiet man. He loved music, dancing, his children, ice cream, playing horseshoes and talking to people. He was a good listener and had a wonderful smile. The family thanks the wonderful, caring staff at the Veterans Home Skilled Nursing Unit who treated him and the family with so much kindness and dignity.
Graveside services will be held in the spring at Pierce Cemetery, Mars Hill. A memorial Mass will be held at a future date. Those who wish to make gifts in his memory may send them to the Children’s Clothing Program at Wings for Children and Families, 900 Hammond St., Suite 915, Bangor, ME 04401. A service of Brookings-Smith, 133 Center St., Bangor.
