HAMPDEN – Gary W. Brewster, 52, passed away peacefully Nov. 23, 2011, surrounded by his loving family at Massachusetts General Hospital, Boston. He endured a liver disease for seven years, and is now face to face with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. He was born March 22, 1959, in Bangor, son of Charles and Shirley (Farrington) Brewster.
Gary graduated from Stearns High School in 1977 and Husson College in 1981. He owned Brewster Financial and was a trusted financial advisor. Gary was a member of the Supervisory Board at Bangor Federal Credit Union and was also on the board of directors for Camp Capella, Dedham. The most important thing in Gary’s life was his faith in Jesus Christ. He was a member and co-founder of Grace Bible Fellowship and found great joy in ministering to others. Gary was an avid sports fan who loved the Red Sox, Celtics and Patriots. He loved playing golf, fantasy football and could beat just about anyone in a game of sports trivia. His heart for people was evident in the way he lived out his life. He delighted in being a husband, father and grandfather and was incredibly devoted to his family. He was a source of comfort, wisdom and stability for many and though he will be greatly missed, his legacy will never be forgotten.
Gary is survived by his devoted wife of 31 years, Terri (Dunbar) Brewster of Hampden; his daughter, Megan, son-in-law, Nick Cornwell, and granddaughter, Bella, of Brewer; his daughter, Gretchen, son-in-law, Brian Keezer, and grandson, Jude, of Bangor; father-in-law, Terry Dunbar; his sister-in-law, Holly Humphrey, brother-in-law, Scott, niece and nephew, Matthew and Rachel, of Veazie; brother-in-law, Byron Dunbar, sister-in-law, Dawn, and nephew, Chris, of Hermon; five special cousins; his best friend, James DiFrederico of Hampden; as well as countless close friends who were loved dearly by Gary.
Friends and family are welcome to call 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 30, at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center St., Bangor, where a memorial service in celebration of Gary’s life will be held 10 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 1. The family invites relatives and friends to share conversation and refreshments at the Family Reception Center of Brookings-Smith, 163 Center St., Bangor, after the service.
