HOLDEN and LONG BEACH, N.Y. – Frank S. Karl, 67, died unexpectedly Nov. 27, 2011, with his family by his side at a Bangor hospital. He was born July 1, 1944, in Freeport, N.Y.

In his younger days he worked off the coast of Long Island, N.Y., as a commercial fisherman. He was very proud of the fact that as an ironworker he worked on the construction of the World Trade Center. After moving to Maine, he found his place working as a logger with his son, Billy.

He is survived by his wife, Sharon of Holden; daughter, Tammy Pearson and husband, Scott, of Glenburn; five grandchildren, Derek Pearson, Jordan Pearson and wife, Ashley, Katie Pearson, Krysten Quinn and Macy Karl; and two very special great-grandsons, Nathan and Brayden Pearson. Frank was predeceased by son, Billy; and a grandson, Casey.

At the request of the family, there will be no services. Donations in his name may be made to Maine Audubon Society, 20 Gillsland Road, Falmouth, ME 04105.
