MEDWAY – Myrtle Fay (Nickerson) McLaughlin, 82, beloved mother and grandmother to her family and wife of the late Paul O. McLaughlin, passed away with her family at her side, Tuesday, Nov. 29, 2011, at a Bangor hospital. She was born Jan. 3, 1929, in Monticello.
Myrtle enjoyed the time she spent with her family and participated in many activities with them. She loved playing Phase 10, knitting, going camping, riding four-wheelers and putting jigsaw puzzles together. Her spry sense of humor would shine through to those who knew her well, often leaving them in stitches of laughter. Each of her family members held a special place in her heart. She will be greatly missed by her family.
Myrtle is survived by her son and his family, Merle McLaughlin and wife, Sherry, of Medway, grandson, Ryan McLaughlin and wife, Katie; great-grandchildren, Lyndsay, Ashleigh, Paul and Rylee; grandson, Adam McLaughlin and his wife, Terri; son, Paul McLaughlin and wife, Linda, of Brewer; daughter, Leah Smith and husband, George, of Carroll Plantation; grandson, Jody Smith and his wife, Tracy, of Lee; great-grandchildren, Tiara, Kimberlin, Garet and Jace Smith; grandson, Aaron Smith of Carroll Plantation; great-grandchildren, Devon and Mason Smith; daughter, Phyllis Fleming and husband, Steven, of Woodville; grandson, Nicholas Fleming of Woodville; grandson, Matthew Fleming and wife, Kayla, of East Millinocket; granddaughter, Jennifer Leathers and husband, Andrew, of Milford; several nieces, nephews and special family friends.
Friends and family may call during visiting hours 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Friday, Dec. 2, at Clay Funeral Home, 7 Lee Road, Lincoln. At the request of Myrtle, private graveside services will be held for her family Saturday at Grindstone Road Cemetery, Medway.
