BANGOR and ORRINGTON – Norman Edwin Otis, 92, died Nov. 28, 2011, surrounded by his family at his daughter Brenda’s home, where he had resided for the last year. He was born June 21, 1919, in Madison, son of Fred L. and Nina G. (Tracy) Otis.

Norman served during World War II in the U.S. Army as a tank driver. He worked for many years as a carpenter and built two homes that he and his loving wife Pauline shared. Norman was a member of Maurice W. Miles Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 4527, Orrington, the Nature Club and Veazie Senior Citizens.

He was predeceased by his wife of 63 years, Pauline (Bowden) Otis. During their years together, they traveled extensively, visiting every state in the country. He was the last surviving sibling of 10 brothers and sisters. Norman is survived by his three children, Brenda Kent and her husband, George, of Bangor, Carroll Otis and significant other, Kelly Stevens, of Dixmont and Rosetta Thomas and her husband, Rhea, of Kenduskeag; grandchildren, Patricia Campbell and her husband, Steve, of Brewer, Jennifer Kent of Bangor, Alan Thomas and significant other, Michelle Twaddell, of Corinth, Robert Otis and his wife, Jennifer, of Greenbush and Nicholas Otis and his wife, Stephanie, of Oklahoma; great-grandchildren, Caitlin and Patrick Campbell of Brewer and Talon Maglio of Oklahoma; and special friends, Robert and Phyllis Jenkins of Wyoming.

Relatives and friends are welcome to call 5-7 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 30, at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center St., Bangor, where a funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 1, with the Rev. Albert Buzzell, Th.M., officiating. Interment with military honors will be at Oak Hill Cemetery, Orrington. The family invites relatives and friends to share conversation and refreshments at the Family Reception Center of Brookings-Smith, 163 Center St., Bangor, after the services Thursday.
