BURNHAM – Howard M. Drake, 85, passed away Saturday, Nov. 26, 2011, at Lakewood Continuing Care Center, Waterville, after a short illness. He was born Dec. 20, 1925, in Freedom, son of Howard F. and Alice (Bradstreet) Drake.
He attended Freedom Academy and served in the U.S. Navy, 1943-1946. In 1958, he married Marjorie Finnemore of Unity. Howard enjoyed working in the construction industry for many years, retiring from Cianbro in his late 50s.
He was predeceased by his wife. He is survived by his daughter, Denise Holt and husband, Kevin, of Burnham; son, Farley Drake of Unity; grandchildren, Ashley Morency and husband, Craig, of Independence, Mo., Brittanie Smith and husband, Dameko, of Burnham, and Ryan Drake of Troy; two great-grandchildren, Demarcus Smith and Maddilyn Morency; brother, Fred Drake and wife, Mildred, of Augusta; special sister-in-law, Anna Gerald and companion, Richard Beal, of Fairfield Center; sisters-in-law, Barbara Finnemore and Joanne Higgins; several nieces and nephews; and special friends, Joyce and Burley Holt, and Paul Bertrand.
