HAMPDEN – Peter Joseph Gilpin, 45, loving husband and father, passed away Nov. 29, 2011. Peter was born June 29, 1966, in Brooklyn, N.Y., to Walter E. Sr. and Margaret C. (McGoldrick) Gilpin.
Peter was a 1984 graduate of Houlton High School. He then attended Eastern Maine Community College where he earned an associate degree in automotive repair. Peter had a zest for life and was always looking to help friends and neighbors. He enjoyed snowmobiling, golf and many other sports. His greatest passion was watching his children play sports, always providing great support and cheers no matter if they were winning or losing.
Peter will be remembered as a loving husband, father, son, brother, uncle and friend.
Peter is survived by his wife of 20 years, Carol A. (Bubar) Gilpin; his loving children, Zachary, Nicholas and Marissa, all of Hampden; his father and stepmother, Walter E. Gilpin Sr. and wife, Eileen, of Portland; brothers, Timothy and wife, Karen, Brian and wife, Marci, of Phoenix, and Walter E. Gilpin Jr. and wife, Tammy, of Hampden; his sister, Margaret Anne Hill and husband, David, of Houlton; grandfather, Larry Marshall; aunts and uncles, Robert and Mary Gilpin, Jane Gilpin and Cecilia Denniston; his mother-in-law, Anne Metherell; his brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Debbie, Brian, Wanda, Kevin, Derek, Willie, Shawn and Shane; special friends, George DelleChiaie and Peggy and Rusty Botting; as well as several nieces, nephews, cousins and special friends too numerous to mention. Peter was predeceased by his mother, Margaret; two uncles, Herbert and Edward Gilpin; and his mother-in-law, Janet Warman.
Family and friends are invited to visit 5-8 p.m. Friday, Dec. 2, at Hampden-Gilpatrick Funeral Home, 45 Western Ave., Hampden. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 3, at St. Paul the Apostle Parish, St. Matthew’s Catholic Church, 70 Western Ave., Hampden. Interment will be at Lakeview Cemetery, Hampden.
