DOVER-FOXCROFT, Maine — An autopsy is showing that a nursing home maintenance man who was gunned down in a small Maine town by his ex-wife’s husband died of multiple gunshot wounds.
Attorney general’s office spokeswoman Brenda Kielty said Thursday that 53-year-old Udo Schneider was shot repeatedly in the torso.
Police say Schneider was killed Tuesday morning when 46-year-old Michael Curtis, a dispatcher for the Piscataquis County Sheriff’s Department, went to the Hilltop Manor nursing home in Dover-Foxcroft and shot him. Witnesses said Curtis fired up to a dozen shots.
After fleeing in his pickup truck, Curtis was fatally shot a short time later at a nearby fairground by a state trooper.
Maine State Police say investigators are still trying to determine what prompted Curtis to shoot Schneider.
