BUCKSPORT – M. Julia Mann, 95, passed away peacefully Nov. 30, 2011, at a Bangor health care facility. She was born Oct. 24, 1916, in Augusta, daughter of George R. and Lucy E. (Longfellow) Meigs.
Julia graduated in 1935 from Walter Gardner High School, Bucksport. In 1936 she married Donald C. Mann. She was a longtime member of Daughters of the American Revolution and was treasurer for several years, and a member of Elm Street Congregational Church, Bucksport, and Bucksport Historical Society. She enjoyed the meals and social gatherings at Bucksport Senior Citizens Center.
Julia is survived by her son, Robert Mann and his wife, Elsie, of Dexter; daughter, Linda Dickson and husband, Arthur, of Old Orchard and North Fort Myers, Fla.; daughter-in-law, Jayne Mann of Trenton; 11 grandchildren, several great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews; and two sisters, Ann Swazey of Bucksport and Norma Lydick of Ellsworth. She was predeceased by her husband, Donald; sons, Ronald and David; and two brothers, Russell Meigs and Franklin “Pinky” Meigs. Special thanks to the staff at Engel Place of Ross Manor, and Beacon Hospice of Bangor for their special care.
Visitation for family and friends will be 2-4 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 4, at Mitchell-Tweedie Funeral Home, 28 Elm St., Bucksport. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Monday, Dec. 5, at Elm Street Congregational Church, Bucksport, with the Rev. Linda Smith officiating. Interment will be at Silver Lake Cemetery, Bucksport.
