CONCORD, N.H. — The New Hampshire inmate who escaped and eluded a massive manhunt before his capture six days later is now in a maximum security unit of the state prison in Concord.

Thirty-four-year-old David Hobson was transferred from the Carroll County jail he escaped from Dec. 1 by climbing to the roof of a building in the recreation yard and vaulting over razor wire atop the perimeter.

Authorities say he was seeking revenge against an ex-girlfriend and her new boyfriend and sent a threatening text message from a cell phone once he was free.

Hobson, who has a string of burglary convictions and was awaiting trial on four new burglary charges in New Hampshire, was apprehended without incident in a Rochester grocery store parking lot.

His bail is set at $500,000.
