STONINGTON – Letha F. Bray, 78, died Tuesday, Dec. 13, 2011, at Blue Hill Memorial Hospital after dealing with a brief illness. She was born Jan. 20, 1933, in Stonington, daughter of Forrest and Nellie Nevells of Stonington.
She worked at Stonington Canning Factory as well as many other jobs. She enjoyed life, her birds, her flower gardens and her family, with whom she had a very special bond.
She was survived by six children, Darlene Hardy and her husband, Neville, Rachel Place and her husband, Bud, James Bray and his wife, Barbara, Timothy Bray and his wife, Nancy, Dexter Bray and his fiancee, Joyce, and Mary Gatchell and her husband, Steve; and a daughter-in-law, Donna Bray. She is also survived by many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her husband of 60 years, Henry C. Bray Jr.; son, Henry E. Bray; daughter, Charlene F. Jones; and daughter, Jeannie M. Bray.
Graveside services will be held noon Saturday, Dec. 17, at Mountainville, Deer Isle, with Elder Dowe Eaton officiating. A gathering will be afterward at Fisherman’s Friend, Stonington. Donations may be made to Breast Cancer Awareness Foundation in her memory.
