BREWER – Elaine Enman Winslow Bean died peacefully Dec. 12, 2011, in her sleep. She was born in 1923, in Bangor.
Elaine graduated from high school in Bangor, and attended Maine Central Institute and the University of Maine, Orono. She married Kenneth Winslow and they moved to Madison, where she was active in Women’s Club and the Congregational church. They were married for 34 years and had four children. After returning to Bangor, she worked in area banks and retired from Penquis CAP. Elaine married Fred Bean, in 1981. They were active members of the Conservation and Salmon clubs. She loved cross-country skiing, the ocean, the outdoors and especially the pink house in Prospect Harbor. Fred and Elaine’s home was the loving family center for many children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Elaine’s feisty personality, compassion and warmth will be missed by all who knew her.
There will be no service, but there will be a small gathering in her honor 9-11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 17, at Brewer Rehabilitation and Living Center.
