LIVERMORE FALLS – Paul “Papa” D. Bridges, 51, a resident of Vine Street, died peacefully Thursday, Dec. 15, 2011, surrounded by his loving family, at Hospice House of Androscoggin, Auburn. He was born May 29, 1960, in Meridian, Conn., the son of Richard Bridges and Carole (Libby) Bridges Colbeth.
He was a 1978 graduate of Washington Academy, East Machias. On May 17, 1984, he married his wife of 27 years, Nola Griffin of Machiasport.
Paul worked for Formed Fibre, Auburn. He enjoyed working on boats, lobstering, scalloping, clam digging and golf. Paul especially loved the time he spent with his family and friends. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, uncle and friend, and will be deeply missed by those that knew and loved him.
He is survived by his mother, Carole Colbeth of Machiasport; his wife, Nola Bridges of Livermore Falls; his son, Orville Bridges and his wife, Melinda, of Fort Riley, Kan.; his daughter, Christy Reeve of Livermore Falls; four grandchildren, Kaleb Bridges, Izack King, Kaden Reeve and Layla Bridges; three brothers, Edmond Bridges and his wife, Ellen, of Machiasport, John Bridges and his wife, Patricia, of Machiasport and Douglas Colbeth and his wife, Melanie, of Machias; his sister, Wendy Sawyer and her husband, Kenneth, of Whitneyville; his mother-in-law, Josephine Johnson; brothers-in-law, John Johnson and his wife, Melissa, Terry Johnson and Brian Johnson; his sister-in-law, Becky Kelleher and her husband, Steve, all of Machiasport, and his large extended family who knew him as “Papa,” which he also loved deeply. He was predeceased by his father, Welton Colbeth; and his father-in-law, Orville Johnson.
