MILLINOCKET – Jeannette M. Caruso, 83, wife of the late James P. “Buff” Caruso, died Saturday, Dec. 17, 2011, surrounded by her family, at a Millinocket hospital. She was born Oct. 16, 1928, in Houlton, the daughter of Olin G. and Florence M. (Paul) Marshall.

Jeannette grew up in Houlton and came to Millinocket in 1948 after marrying James Caruso of Millinocket. She worked at the mill office for Great Northern Paper Co. for a short time, then worked for Paoletti’s Furniture Store, Millinocket, for several years. Jeannette enjoyed golfing, which she enjoyed in Maine and also in Florida, where she and Buff wintered for several years during their retirement. They made many friends in Florida who will miss them both.

Jeannette is survived two children, James P. Caruso Jr. of Millinocket and Pamela Mola of Lebanon; four grandsons, Todd Allen and his friend, Linda, of Raymond, N.H., Greg Caruso and his wife, Elizabeth, of Caratunk, Michael Caruso and Lynn of Windham and Jared Caruso and his friend, Katarina, of Bangor; five great-grandchildren, Jeremy, Christopher, Michael, Miranda and Holly; two brothers, Lawrence and Terrance Marshall; several nieces, nephews and cousins. Jeannette will also be missed by an especially beloved sister-in-law, Kay Caruso of Millinocket; as well as sisters-in-law, Mary “Gally” Osgood and her husband, Dick, of East Millinocket and Lillian Caruso of Millinocket. In addition to her parents and her husband, Jeannette was predeceased by sisters, Dorothy Russell, Peggy Fleming and Marion Welch; and brothers, Jim, George and Paul Marshall.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 20, at Christ the Divine Mercy Parish of St. Martin of Tours Catholic Church, 19 Colby St., Millinocket, with the Rev. Dan Greenleaf, pastor, presiding. Spring interment will be at Millinocket Cemetery. Gifts in memory of Jeannette may be sent to Katahdin Area Support Group, 10 Field St., Millinocket, ME 04462.
