CORINNA and SKOWHEGAN – Charles A. Packard, 59, died unexpectedly Dec. 22, 2011, at his residence. He was born Dec. 26, 1951, in Brockton, Mass., a son of Charles and Evelyn (Provost) Packard.
Charles graduated from Brockton High School, class of 1969. He had been employed for many years as a machinist at Mestek, Clinton. After the death of his father, his family fulfilled a lifelong dream to own and live on a farm, when they moved to Corinna from Massachusetts. He had a great love of animals and kept horses and sheep on their rural Maine 50-acre property. His favorite was his great horse, Aladdin.
He is survived by a brother, Philip of Fall River, Mass.; two sisters, Joanne Packard of Massachusetts and Marie Blanchard of Skowhegan; three uncles, Wilbur and his wife, Florence Provost, of DeFuniak, Springs, Fla., Gordon Provost of Brunswick and Walter and his wife, Regina Provost, of Sarasota, Fla.; nieces, nephews and cousins.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 10 a.m. Friday, Dec. 30, at St. Agnes Catholic Church, Pittsfield, with the Rev. Paul Murray officiating.
Spring burial will be at Nutter Cemetery, Corinna. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Maine Veterans Home, 310 Cony Ave., Augusta, ME 04330. Arrangements are by Crosby & Neal, Newport. Those who wish may leave written tributes at
