BREWER – Florence K. Lamson, 99, formerly of Seton Village, Waterville, died Dec. 20, 2011, at a Bangor hospital after a brief illness. She was born Jan. 19, 1912, in Waterville, the oldest of nine children to Joseph A. and Lena (Proveau) King.
As a former resident of Hawthorne, Calif., Flo, as she was known, enjoyed camping with her husband and friends. She also enjoyed her work as a supply technician at Douglas Aircraft. Upon returning to Maine, she worked as a waitress in some of Waterville’s finer restaurants. Everyone of all ages loved Flo. She was an inspiration to all and would brighten even the darkest day with her angelic smile and gentle touch. She left behind those beautiful memories to remain in our hearts forever.
Surviving are two children, Joan (Sargent) DeVeau of West Palm Beach, Fla., and John C. Sargent Jr. of Vista, Calif.; 10 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren, seven great-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Evelyn K. Hayward of Brewer and Frances L. King of Waterville; many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her first husband, J. Colby Sargent Sr., in 1949; her second husband, Charles H. Lamson, in 1988; two brothers, Donald J. King and Henry A. King; and four sisters, Doris K. Perkins, Eva B. Bridges, Irene K. Parsons and T. Marie Webb.
Private burial will be at St. Francis Cemetery, Waterville. Arrangements by Kiley Funeral Home, Bangor and Brewer.
