BENTON – Gerald Edward Spencer, 90, died Dec. 24, 2011, at a Waterville health care center. He was born Feb. 23, 1921, in Benton, a son of Edward and Ella (Gerald) Spencer.
Gerald was a self-employed contractor and entrepreneur, having been involved in many business and financial endeavors throughout his life. He was a member of Siloam No. 92 Masonic Lodge, Augusta Valley Scottish Rite, Lodge Council Chapter, Korah Shrine and Benton Grange.
He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Ardria “Jo” (Nash), in 2010. He is survived by his godson and wife, Douglas and Diane Franklin, and their children, Andrew and Zachary, all of Newport; several nieces and nephews, including, David West, Gina and husband, A. J. Henderson, all of Benton, and Daniel and wife, Cindy Nutt, of Waterford, Conn.
A graveside funeral with Masonic rites will be held in the spring at Maplewood Cemetery, Fairfield. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Shriners Hospital for Children, 51 Blossom St., Boston, MA 02114. Arrangements are by Crosby & Neal, Newport.
