BOLTON, Conn., and ELIOT – Stella B. (Gellerson) Smith, 101, formerly of Eliot and wife of the late Rodney Smith, passed away Sunday, Dec. 18, 2011, at Manchester Memorial Hospital. She was born Aug. 4, 1910, in Weston, daughter of the late Harry and Mary (Reed) Gellerson.
Stella had been a resident of Bolton, Conn., for the past three years. She worked in the Philco Shoe Factory for many years in Bangor, then moved to Eliot, where she then worked in the shoe factory in Portsmouth, N.H.
Stella is survived by her two sisters, Olive Burleigh of Bolton, Conn., and Phyllis Clark of Gainesville, Fla.; numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by seven sisters, Violet Dunham of Deer Isle, Aura Robinson of Westborough, Ione Smith of East Corinth, Nina Carbone and Ardis Joslyn, both of Brewer, Doris Fritz of Topsham and Freda Rose of Manchester, Conn.; and her brother, Ronald Gellerson of Holiday, Fla.
A private graveside service will be held at Pine Grove Cemetery, Bangor. Holmes Funeral Home, Manchester, Conn., has care of arrangements.
