CALAIS – Margaret Elwell Baker, 90, died Dec. 25, 2011, at her home. Margaret was born Jan. 18, 1921, in Portland, daughter of Elmer B. and Mary Bailey Elwell.
She attended Buxton area schools and graduated from Samuel D. Hanson High School. Margaret moved to Calais in 1946 upon her marriage to Harley J. Baker Jr., who predeceased her in 2001.
She is survived by three daughters, Ruth Doten, Harlene Davis and Nancy Mosher; seven grandchildren, Bradley Phillips, Kristi Davis, Kathy Hunter, Billy Doten, Janelle Randall, Adam and Amanda Mosher; as well as several great-grandchildren.
A celebration of Margaret’s life will be held 2 p.m. Friday, Dec. 30, at Mays Funeral Home, 26 Church St., Calais. Burial will be afterward at Calais Cemetery. Condolences and memories may be shared at
