BRIDGEWATER – Wesley Earl Adams Jr., 51, passed away Dec. 22, 2011, after a long battle with kidney disease. He was born Feb. 10, 1960, in Beaufort, S.C., son of Wesley E. Adams Sr. and Elsie Adams.

A graduate of Hodgdon High School, Northern Maine Technical College and the University of Maine at Presque Isle, Wes never let illness get in the way of living life to the fullest. In Wes’ world, kindness was the only law and everyone was equal. Strangers who met him left as friends. Some of his favorite times were spent celebrating Christmas Eve and other important events with his wife, Bobbie (Neilander) Adams and her family. He spoke to his father at least once a day and also cherished time spent with friends – crowded around a table at a restaurant, their laughter bouncing off the walls. While at UMPI, he was active in the campus community, serving on the student senate and working on the campus newspaper staff. In 2000, he was one of 12 designees named to Who’s Who Among Students in American Universities and Colleges. Wes worked as a long haul truck driver and broker, and made countless friends while on the road. The recipient of a donor organ that extended his life, he advocated for organ donation and supported National Kidney Foundation.

Wes was predeceased by his mother, Elsie; and sister, Connie Adams Marquis. He is survived by his devoted wife, Bobbie; father, Wesley Adams Sr. of Homosassa, Fla.; father-in-law, Chuck McIntyre; and his wife’s family, all of Bridgewater. He also leaves behind his nephew, Wesley Michael Marquis of Bangor; and close friends Chris Harvey and Eric Good of Monticello. and Jen Lynds of Littleton.

A celebration of his life was held Dec. 24 at Free Baptist Church, Bridgewater, with Pastor Dino Zefferino, presiding. Burial will be in the summer. Donations in his memory may be made to Toys for Tots, care of Bernie Reece, Millar Civic Center, 128 Main St., Houlton, ME 04730. Wes also would be pleased if you would consider being an organ donor.
